…A Senryu

Inspirational
Containing wisdom, knowledge
For all who will read

Inspiration: Poem describing the worth of the Judeo-Christian scriptures. The Christian can trust its authenticity and reliability. If we would only read it, we would find the direction that we need in the Christian life and experience. Based upon II Timothy 3:16 – “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” – TRP

standing proud and true

gazing at the world as is

nothing else to do

Inspiration: Poem written for a contest to describe an image of a bird standing and looking out on the world. Based upon “Matthew 6:26 – Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them.” ~The Refined Poet~

The Treacherous Knight

Striking fear and horror in all who hear it;
Accompanied by visions of eternal torment.
The tale of him has made strong men weak,
Overshadowing the dregs of religion in defeat.
Utter of his legend in the season of the night.
Whisper of his coming glory revealed in death’s light.
Cower in veiled respect to hell’s most treacherous knight.

Inspiration: Poem describing the Beast or Antichrist who is to come. Christians must stand in the faith, knowing that what is written shall surely be revealed. Based upon II Thessalonians 2:8-9 “And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders…” ~ TRP ~

Love Her. Hate Her.

Love her and she will destroy you.
Disown her and you will come to ruin.
Treasure her for her worth,
Avoid the snare of her desire.

She holds men and women alike,
None can escape her allure.
Kill for her, work for her,
Do what you will.
All who are controlled by her,
Their lives will surely become destitute.

She attracts indiscriminately.
She allures without remorse.
Her absence makes men miserable.
Her presence is bitter-sweet.

What can be said of this woman
Who is adored worldwide?
With her is pain and pleasure,
Joy and sorrow are her rewards.

Treasure her for her worth,
Avoid the snare of her desire.
Love Her. Hate Her.
Money is here to stay.

Inspiration: Poem inspired by the scripture “For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. ITimothy 6:10″ – TRP

Beauty for Ashes

What can be said of the joy you bring?
I was was mute, now my heart sings.
You have filled the very void of my soul.
With hope and gladness, you have made me whole.
A weathered being from life’s stinging lashes,
My life is now complete, receiving beauty for ashes.

Inspiration: Poem recounting the new life in Christ. He brings joy, peace, and happiness through communion and fellowship with him. Based upon Isaiah 61:3 – To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified. ~TRP~

‘Tis the Night (Tritina Style)

‘Tis the night before my new life begins.
What will happen as the new day emerges,
Fear, regret, or earnest expectations?

“Nothing ventured, nothing gained:” or just futile expectations,
While a scenario of possible failure begins.
Through the clutter of thoughts, hope emerges.

Confidence of a bright future emerges,
Making me a slave to raised expectations.
A smirk, a smile, a new expression on my face begins.

My new life begins, emerges, with glorious expectations.

Inspiration: This poetic piece describes anticipation that we all feel when embarking on new endeavors; the Christian remains confident because of Christ’s presence. Based upon Philippians 1:6 – “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” ~TRP~
